Intellectual property (IP) is the lifeblood of the creative economy. To encourage innovation and creativity to flourish, it is crucial that the work of digital content creators and video game developers alike is protected, and the value of their work can be fully leveraged. It is important that industry players, like Tencent, work in close partnership with IP practitioners and policymakers to uphold the integrity and contribute to the future development of the global IP system.

This panel discussion will explore the role and importance of IP in developing innovative products as well as digital content and media in a technology enabled world. Digital technologies have accelerated the proliferation of new products and services, expanded the ways users interact with IP, and increased the variety in ways IP can be leveraged to create value.

Join our panel of industry, legal, and policy experts for an enriching session as we uncover the multitude of considerations surrounding the innovative use of IP in today’s increasingly digitalised world. Some of the topics that will be covered include:

  • IP considerations in commercial and licensing transactions, and the launch of digital products or content
  • Innovative use of IP to enhance existing services or generate new products such as films, music, and other digital content leveraging on IP from video games
  • Economic contribution of IP to the digital and creative economy
